The Importance of Order

Recently, I transformed a small pantry/ mudroom into an organised area with floor to ceiling closets.  Having accessibility to items its great but sometimes it's difficult to keep those shelves looking tidy, and soon the chaos starts spreading on the shelves.  Having items behind doors helps to keep the area "under control". Our lives are filled with projects, appointments... but having an organised pantry can reward you with a sense of accomplishment and calm.   This way you know what you have and what you need. (I'm still talking about the pantry ;-) )

2022 Getting out of Confort Zone

I recently listened to Nick Lewis talk about Maximalism and he inspired me to investigate more about it.

As he said, its not a question of filling up you house with items (junk) but to curate what we choose to place in our homes.  This style invites to up-cycling pieces that will add an authentic touch to the final effect.

So with those thoughts in mind, and understanding that this ¨new style ¨ as a way of reusing old elements, therefore being as environmental as possible, I put together some ideas.

I would love to hear what you think.  Happy New Year!!

CasaDecor ´21

It was great to visit CasaDecor´21,  Madrid.  It´s very popular and it gives a chance not only to visit a historical building  in the heart of the city but also see the new trends in design around here.
I will add more photos in the next posts but for now, here is a taste of what I saw.

Simplify Home = More Time for the important things

I'm going to share part of a presentation I made that might be useful now that we have the time to do something about that clutter around the house.
I hope you like it.

Putting your home in order affects all other aspects of life because it changes you lifestyle.

Focus on the small things not on the whole project when you start.

Weed out the junk and get down to the things you TRULY love.

Simplify doesn’t mean Empty. It means to leave space in your life for what really works for you.

Changing “wants” for ¨needs¨ eliminates clutter.

When the objects we own work for us instead of the other way around, suddenly
home becomes a haven.

Have a clear idea of your destination before you start decluttering.

Your destination is the lifestyle that you want for yourself.

Do not buy new organising stuff, use what you already have.  Be creative.

Start with clothes, move to books and papers; When that is done, face the miscellany and finally go through the mementos.

Set  yourself a dead line, plan when you want to finish the project.

And remember, there is not failure, celebrate every-little-success.

Decoración para Semana Santa

Estamos en casa pero eso no quiere decir que no podemos decorar nuestro hogar.
Un simple huevo cocido y una ramita pueden ser unos grandes aliados para estos días.
